I drive a 2001 VW Jetta 1.8T. I just bought the motor pretty recently used and I hold no idea how to business deal with the traction control. Its a stick so when I want to burn out the traction control other turns on and prevents me from doing so. The little ASR light only blinks in the scamper and it is pissing me off.
Answers: When traction is on (the oil lamp on the dash is off), when the motor senses a wheel slipping, it will cut power at the throttle until you own grip again. If you are a good driver and can bar the car yourself, of late hit the button and turn it off. Otherwise, it might be safer to go away it on.
By the way, the answer above me i wrong. There is any an ESP button or ASR but on your dash to turn traction stale.
1999 and above jetta's, The traction comes on automatically there is no button to turn it stale. If you feel close to re wiring it can be done ! ...Hope this help ..Good luck
