Answers: The "brand new beetle" is a pretty sound car, if you follow planned maintenance to a tee!! The hose pump on the gas model has a impeller problem and should have be recalled. Like most if most vehicles next to timing belt, if it breaks valves will break or bend. Have replaced entire engines from valve breaking and putting hole contained by piston. All around good car. If you buy a used one own water pump replaced along with timing belt and tension-er. Belt go around pump so no extra labor. Good Luck ps great gas mileage
