This Mazda V6 is essentially a Ford Taurus DOHC 24valve V6 which uses Motorcraft(Ford) Platinum plugs. In the Taurus, the 'wiper' air intake/passenger side cover can be removed to replace the rear ridge plugs. A double swivel & extension is reqd for the innermost plug. Because its a diffucult jobs (garages usually charge 1.5 Hrs.), you wnat to use a long lasting plug resembling a platinum which typically has 100M service. Stick to a major brand for the Mazda6 engine to be sure the plug have the right heat range! A phone phone call to the dealer service dept or parts dept will tell you what they use.

Answers: NGK's work real well contained by a Mazda. Like C7S said up top never use Champion. I had a friend use Champions in her 2000 626 and they cause all kinds of problems. You should not use platinum plugs any if you have a DOHC because they will burn way too hot and that's not appropriate.

NGK. All Japanese cars should use NGK.Do noy use Champion because that is for american car.
The best sparkplugs are made by the Germans, which you could also use within the Mazda. The German car sparkplugs are called Bosch.
