Dec 2007 issue Car and Driver M3 top speed 161 mph, RS4163 mph 1/4 mile M3: 12.8 sec RS4:13.1sec
Car and Driver picked the M3 as their #1 choice within this category.
The Audi has adjectives wheel drive so it take off seriously faster off the vein and has better traction through the turns because four wheel are spinning instead of one.
The BMW however will catch up beside the Audi on the straight-aways and will be a lot more fun to drive considering you can drift it.
Both cars enjoy powerful engines but you would need to be more specific surrounded by asking "which one is faster?"
The BMW will be faster in a straight string, and the Audi wins within the curves.
But as far as looks the BMW ////M3 looks a lot better than the Audi RS4, and the M3 is slickly distinguished from the other 3-series. But as for the RS4 the only seemingly difference is the prize on the front and rear.
Hope that Helps,
Jeff
Answers: I wouldn't articulate the M3 killed the Audi, but it did come across to be ahead of it. One is all rudder drive and the other rear merely, so they will have different driving characteristics. In one situation the BMW might be faster (straight-line) and within another the Audi (the turns). It seemed to me the Audi be crowding the BMW on just in the order of every turn. Its hard to relay from that video because its more of an exhibition than a real see. Nice cars though.
