you can definately find something for two thousand, you just have to look. i recommend craigslist. i enjoy tons of friends who have cars that were with the sole purpose two grand, and they run just fine. freshly make sure you get a VIN check and a pre-purchase inspection and you will be devout to go.

good luck!
There are lots of wearing clothes reliable cars in that price range that dont require big money for routine upkeep Like Honda does. Got $1000 to change the timing belt every 50K? nope! and if it breaks, you lose the whole engine, cause by valves stopping suddenly and putting holes in the valve.

Sure all the race kids similar to them too, thats why they are the number one stolen car in America! The ignition switches on Japanese cars are made of cheese, you one and only need a screwdriver to break one of them!

anyway..Look on Craigslist in your town, set the price parameter for your price range and shop.

MY closing two cars were free!. Someone gave me a 20 year behind the times Diesel Peugot 505,that I drove for 3 years before I sold it, becayse my sister-in-law gave me her antediluvian car 2.5 years ago.

So, I`m driving her old Plymouth Reliant. have a timing belt but it is NOT an "interference" motor, so If it breaks, no sweat! However I changed it myself as they are easy to work on, lots of room under the hood!

I live within Portland Oregon, so I looked on Craigslist with your dollar range and heres what I found...

What kinda coup¨¦ do you drive and...

The best AMERICAN coupé ranges?

Over the years, the public has set the Accord/Camry on a really high base (not for any especially good reason), and so they cost alot more to buy used than they should. My 1996 Olds Cutlass Ciera cost $1000 a little more than a year ago. I've put a great deal of miles on that car, even driven it 9 hours to Jacksonville, FL. I know it will last me several more years. I would suggest a 1995-1996 Cutlass Ciera or a 1995-2000 Buick Century (which was the same as the Olds within '95 and '96).
Pros:
Very Reliable
Comfortable
Good gas mileage(I got 29 mpg on the Jacksonville trip, with the AC on and going 85 mph)
Cost thousands smaller quantity than Accord/Camry w/ same mileage and year
Safe
REALLY cheap insurance(mine is only $400/yr. and I am 16)
Just about the easiest cars to work on, next to the cheapest and easiest to find parts.

Cons
They aren't exciting. They aren't slow, but many would find them boring

But I'm happy beside mine. Great car.
My advice as to where on earth you can find such a car: Craigslist, if it's big in your nouns.
And as they will always tell you, get hold of a mechanic you trust to look at it. That is the most important part of the adjectives process.
What's important isn't what brand the car is, but what shape the car's within and how it's been maintained.

Anyone know in the order of carmax...

Answers:    !st car Cavalier or sunbird. Keep in mind a used vehicle is worth $2000.00 per year. So when you buy one for that price expect a years service from it.
