i was merely wodering u see my frien just get a job at a used vehicle automart with no retail experience and he think that he dont need his training , im tring to tell him to budge back to arts school but he thinks a saloon dealer make money well he get paid solely by commission after 3 months training
ANYONE CAN SELL A VEHICLE AND WHAT THEY NEED IS PATIENCE AND THE LISTENING POWER TO HELP THE CUSTOMER.
DEPENDING ON THE DEALERSHIP THEY GENERALLY MAKE BETWEEN 2 TO 4 PERCENT PER VEHICLE PLUS A PERCENTAGE OF ANYTHING ELSE THAT THEY TRICK THE CUSTOMER INTO BUYING.
Yes, you CAN cause money in the vehicle business, but it's VERY cut-throat. Basically, it's every man(?) for himself, and once you know the ropes, you cannot expect much, if any, help from the other salespeople. You hold to be a people personality, willing to do almost anything to fashion the sale, and must not win discouraged too easily.
The best place to product serious money is at a dealership, partucularly in alien cars. There you can make money on the backbone end, when associates get the add-ons, resembling DVD players and extra warranties.
Car sale is like legitimate estate sales, it's any feast or famine. One month you can kind lots of sales, later the next almost zilch. There is no such thing as steady income.
It is patently NOT for everyone.
Answers: Your question made me dream up back over 30 years ago when I first enter car sale in a store next to about 12 salespeople.
After simply one week on the job I thought these salespeople are the most uncongenial I have ever come across, after one year I come to realize why, as I be not overly friendly towards anyone coming aboard.
You see the car dealer hiring salespeople is like a revolving door , some simply last the 3 month trail while most others finishing only a bit longer, my point here is , I did not want to achieve to friendly with a newcomer till I be sure that person be going to stick around for awhile.
It's a fact the top guns " 10% " craft as much money as the other 90% of salespeople combined,
Low end is $30,000 to $40,000 a year
A apt average is $ 50,000 to $80,000 a year
And the top guns whom have be in the business for years next to a build up clientele and real population skills $150,000 to $200,000 range working long hours and person well organized.
SUMMARY... If your friend is prepared to work long hours including weekends and feel he has get people skills make available it a shot but the law of average is not near him and my suggestion is go final to school unless he kind make it to the 10% cream of the crop salespeople.
What question should I ask when buying...
