I'm 16 and the 3rd driver in the family and we own 3 cars. The one I'd be driving would be a Ford Aerostar (1995 I think, my dad got it for family unit trips).
It's not a bad car or anything but I'd love to hold a car to truly call my own, and beside a stick shift. I think I could get something fun to drive for smaller amount than $4000.
Buying it with the money for my job would slaughter the purpose of having a job. I guess I could pay cheque like 1/4 though. Family would actually set free on gas (van doesn't have great MPG). Insurance wouldn't be too painful because my parents are not detrimental drivers (so I am too until I get a ticket) and I have over a B average within school among other discounts.
Think it's selfish/unnecessary or should I try? I'm almost sure that my dad will say no unless I do some serious convincing and I wouldn't grain comfortable doing - that's why I'm asking.
well...no offense...but i think getting a vehicle would give purpose to having a situation...what else do u need money for?
do you plan on paying gas or insurance yourself at least? I don`t know that can help convince them.
i dont know...but i appreciated my 1st car a undamaged lot more when i had to buy it, pay for gas and insurance...i am not a advertiser for things being handed to kids. but hey if u can convince them...move about for it i guess. good luck.
Buy your own car and carry used to working to pay for things you want. Thats the way existence works in the real world.
Answers: I think you should really consider using the spare vehicle for a while and save the money you formulate at your job
starting out is hard but if you really gotta enjoy a vehicle of your own buying a vehicle at less than $4000 is a good approach to establish credit ( the interest rate will be higher than most for your first loan ) but keep up the payments and when you carry older you can show responcibility
I have to agree near the parents if you have a car to be precise sporty or financed, most banks and loan companies require FULL Coverage Insurance for the life of the loan.
my folks made me clear for my own insurance and buy my first car so I wanted to spend as little money as possible but still hold a cool ride (I bought a retired state trooper car) and as a 4 door it insured much lower than a sports car ( but just as fast) I threw a cheap paint available job on it and all my friends thought it was cool so
so if you hold your heart set on not driving the van, drive it anyway save up some money and get what you want but shop watchfully things that are popular usually cost the most to buy/insure/operate

Buy your own car and carry used to working to pay for things you want. Thats the way existence works in the real world. very well . depends on what you want. you should do alot of mature stuff that they would expect you to do.if you show them that and just "talk" just about how getting a car would be useful, perchance they will think about it. i would achieve a used accord or camry. or get a used civic.they dont cost that much and the elder civics, alot of them, come in stick shift :].
just do alot of used cars research. see what price ranger revolve around what years. like a used 98 civic would probably round to maybe ... 5 thousand to 11 thousand. also depends on how several miles it has on it.
hope this helps.
