Should I buy this Jetta?

I'm a 17 year old student and I'm all set to buy my first car. I found a nice 2001 Jetta at a Repo site and it looks legally good. It's a 2001 Jetta Wolfsburg next to 137,000 km on it. It's the 5 speed 1.8T and it's going for about 7,000. Ive be looking at cars for a while now and adjectives these review that I've read have horrible reviews for Volkswagens surrounded by general. Repairs contained by the thousands for things like spanking new engine and transmissions, windows stuck surrounded by the doors, fires, radiators blowing up etc. I don't want to spend more than around 7,000 and this car seem like other but I don't have the money to fix these through things. Btw, I would take a mechanic to check it out up to that time i buy it. Any suggestions?? Thanks a lot
