Toyota 4Runner or Mercury Mariner? Buying a contemporary SUV: any opinion?

Please can some guide me which one...

Answers:    Toyota 4Runner hands down! My father owns a 4Runner which he bought used beside around 45K miles on it. This was basically after I got my license 6 years ago, so on weekends when I drove it, I drove it not easy! Street racing on the roads, and trail bombing contained by the woods, lol. Since then, he have gotten the odometer up to just beneath 200K miles. He changes his grease regular, rotates and replaces tires when neccesary, and has have 1 alignment. That's it! In 6 years and 150K miles, he has put nearly no money into the item!
On the other side, before he owned the Toyota, he have owned a Mercury Mountaineer which had thousands of dollars worth of problems, and the finishing one no mechanic in our state could integer out. Before this, he owned a Ford Explorer (Ford makes Mercury), and replaced the nouns twice and the 4 wheel drive system once, along near numerous smaller problems.
So at least within my family's experience, Toyota SUV's are completely and utterly superior to Ford SUV's. The Toyota will last longer beside less money surrounded by repairs. Also in my inference it looks a lot nicer.... But isn't the 4Runner within a different class than the Mariner? I thought the Mariner was the size of the Toyota Rav 4? If it is, I would still pick the Toyota over the Mercury any sunshine of the week.. Look on Consumer Reports, they will say equal thing.
