I am buying a used car within New York (Queens, Brooklyn), and I am wondering which of the following cars would continue to make well beyind 100,000 miles -
- Volkswagon Passat (1995-1997 model),
- Volkswagon Jetta (1995-1997 model),
- Nissan Sentra (1995-1997 model),
- Nissan Altima (1995-1997 model),
- Honda Civic (1995-1997 model),
- Honda Accord (1995-1997 model),
- BMW (1990-1994 model),
Which of the above would you consider buying today if it have 95,000 miles on it? Assuming of course the coup¨¦ is running fine and the Vin# shows up clean..
Answers: Its a difficult examine.
I would recomend the Sentra simply because it has a timing secure rather than belt. Chains later alot longer and need smaller number mantinence. However 100,000 is alot and personally I would rob a gamble and achieve the BMW. If it breaks down, it will cost you a fortune but I doubt it will break down as much as the Hondas or Nissans.
But then again, Nissans and Hondas are dirt cheap to fix. BMWs and VWs will be much more expensive.
I work within the parts industry and the volks seems to clock the most miles short major trouble, but use your judgement.
