i have a 90 Ford Taurus and the engine is motionless. i put on new tires and fixed the boss gasket when it died. everything on it worked.
i saw an ad contained by the paper that say they'd pay me $200 for any motor as long as I tow it there. so should i do that or put on the market it on ebay? i don't know about donating to charity since i cant take off it from taxes since i lost my job.
Answers: A 90 Taurus is worth almost nil, running or not.
It would not hurt to put an ad up on craigslist. I did one and the same with a broken down Stratus and have about 10 responses. There's probably someone out near with a tow truck and $200 that will lift it without you have to pay for the tow.
Don't try to deal in it on ebay. Those types of cars don't sell, and ebay have up front fees.
Donating it is a waste (unless you estimate being charitable is a reward contained by itself). New donation laws vote you can only reduce by what the charity gets when they get rid of the vehicle at auction. They'd have a tough time selling that car even at auction, and it would probably be one of those that someone take for $50, so you'd get close to a $5 tax break.
If you can tow it, nick the money. If not advertise it on Craig's account.
