Which saloon would be better?

I am looking to buy my first car. In my nouns, there are 2 that i own in mind that are within my price range. one is a 1997 dodge avenger beside 91,000 miles, and the other is a 1997 grand prix se (3.8 L engine) near 145,000 miles. I know the avenger has smaller number miles, but are they pretty reliable? They are going for about indistinguishable price (around $3500) which would be a better buy? I want one that will last me the longest

While the price of the grand prix seem a little soaring i would take it over the avenger anyday.The 3.8 liter within the gm products are one of the best engines out there as far as im concerned.I bought a 95 buick stately almost 4 years ago and it had 130000 on it be a car that i have been around since it be almost new and everything be still original as far as the drivetrain go and now its still ingenious with 185000 and have not shown any signs of giving up yet.The single thing you enjoy to be worried about on these cars is if it have the 4 wheel disc brakes.In these years they did not hold up in good health.You can only expect to seize 15 to 20000 out of a set of brakes but besides that they hold up great till at least 200000.The avenger have mitsubishi engine and transmission which money the engine might hold up a long time but the trannys are not nearly as good and expensive to fix.Hope this help!
