Besides subways, anyone knows what bus best to catch to downtown Manhattan (Liberty Plaza) best for weekdays in the morning?

Don't steal the bus. During rush hours street traffic will slow you down to a crawl. The subway would be faster and runs more frequntly.
But if you really want to do it by bus - if you are in Manhattan, the M1 and M6 bus runs down Broadway and stops any in front of the building or a block away.
