Driving..First time...?

I have have my license for at least 4 months..today finally my dad permit me drive on the expressway.. to pick up my mom in Miami Beach..we live within south miami..so i had to pinch the expressway.. i was so on edge! and my dad makes me even more uneasy..i wanted to know what i should do roughly speaking using the mirrors..i am so afraid of changing lane because i dont want to get reverse ended..if i hold my signals, and start turning will the people astern me let me? Also, when i am merging how do i gain the people permit me through..merging is also hard for me because relations won't let you through i hold no choice but to force my way through regardless..and what is a sheltered speed..cuz my dad complains when i go to slow and when i turn to fast..any proposal of how to get over my shyness (my heart beats resembling crazy) i am afraid of getting into an accident..

Traffic between Schenectady and Albany, NY?

Answers:    Sometime you enjoy to force your way into other lane - but here are some tricks if you're in a traffic conserve or something: Look for the large 18-wheeler trucks. They can't get moving as fast as a smaller vehicle, so they usually tolerate people contained by front of them. They are good at forcing their road into another lane, too. If you are behind a truck, you can follow them when they make over lanes. Be totally careful, though. Also look for exiting cars, if you entail to merge right. When a car exits you can merge into the spread out spot.

Don't rely on mirrors to change lane. Always do a shoulder check - i. e. look over your shoulder to check the 8 o'clock and 4 o'clock positions. These are easy to miss contained by a mirror.

As for the speed, I think the great speed is 10 to 15 mph over the speed limit - maximum 20 over (only if you're over-taking). Go beside the flow of the traffic, but anything over 20 and you're a good hopeful for a ticket.

More important than the speed, however, is the distance from the saloon ahead of you. You should always prolong enough distance to grant yourself room to react and brake contained by case of an emergency. The standard rule is one car-length for every 10 mph. Six car-lengths if you're going 60 mph, seven car-lengths if you're going 70, and so on. If you're not good at gaging distances, another channel to do it, is to count two seconds. Pick a road sign - count from the moment the motor ahead of your passes underneath it, and see how long it take you to go by under like peas in a pod sign. If it's over two seconds, you're doing ably.

EDIT: You're father is mistaken. You can't rely solely on mirrors - and you could fail the driver's testing if you don't do a shoulder check. Your driver's manual will probably read aloud something about shoulder-checking, and you can show that to your father. He is right, however, that you risk colliding next to the person surrounded by front of you. That is another reason it is central to maintain at lowest possible a two-second distance from the car ahead of you.

Take a look at the links below. The first one (Massachusetts) say, "Check your mirrors and check over your shoulder to view blind spot." The second one (California) say, "Glance over your left or right shoulder to brand sure the lane you want is clear." Show these links to your father.

If you're driving towards the sun behind...

Just take your time and stay collected..it'll all work out.
