In the last thirty years i have run out of petrol once,That be enough. Tee hee. I'm not saying. But its usually when carrying out tests a new car, freshly to see how low that gauge really goes.

From a pilot's standpoint, I deliberately "overbudget" fuel. Having have to run from a gun wielding psycopath, I never let the cistern run lower than half.
You'd be amazed by how much fuel a 4x4 burns over 80 mph, or slogging across the river to get away from an xgf.
I'd fairly keep ten gallons in the cistern than run the risk of her making a lucky shot. I have to be alive to face the charges for adjectives the laws I violated; being alive is a dutiful thing.

After lots years of driving I've never run out of petrol or diesel but I've used it as an excuse for not turning up for things loads of times.Top Tip. Always carry a spare can of fuel and dont park your car up at darkness with hardly any within. ( like my wife does)
