I dream of living on a small island, but going to work every day would be a problem. The island is 2 hours bad the coast and during the winter period (september-may) single has take once a day.
Would this dream of mine be possible within any way? Would buying a boat of your own be a biddable idea? I live within the mediterranean, so the weather conditions here are very biddable.
What do you think of this? Do you know anyone who have done this?
you might want to think in the region of fuel prices and the environment before you establish on an airplane :) Word is fuel is going up long-term.
Get impossibly good at something you can mostly telecommute, similar to being a book author or software coder. Get honourable landline or microwave (not satellite) internet and have at :)
I live on Sanibel Island, Florida and until 1963 we have a 45 minute ferry ride to the mainland. If you didn't or couldn't brand your living on the island the ferry be a giant pain surrounded by the neck. Tourist season be a nightmare!
The causeway has brought much more nouns and opportunity to our little island...good & doomed to failure. Even the causeway can take 45 minutes or more during tourist season in our day! Don't plan on commuting from a home on an island; I would say if you enjoy to leave the island more than a couple times per week, you should only just vacation here.
Answers: I'm from Nantucket. A small island about a 2 hour transfer ride from Cape Cod in Massachusetts. I know empire that commute for the week. They don't live on Nantucket full time but during the work week their employer puts their whole crew up surrounded by a house on the island. They go home every friday and come pay for monday morning.
I also know of people flying to and from. This is much better on Nantucket because it's single about a 15 minute plane ride. There are family who do this at least a couple days per week.
