Sat Nav traffic updates?

I'm thinking of getting sat nav, not because I need to be told how to bring back to work everyday, but becuase of the constant traffic jams.

Many of them talk roughly speaking traffic updates, but what I would like to know is does that mean planned roadworks or is it a constantly updating system that shows congestion due to accident and traffic getting clogged up?

If it is 'live' and can show the best route home, are they really that good, or are they like the radio traffic reports where on earth by the time its been reported, you're already stuck in it?

Which create is the best for what I'm looking for?

Answers: I get Nav traffic updates, Its not worth it. If and when you get info on the road you are on, its to behind or very old report. better to listern to the traffic reports on the radio.

it is not a free thing-you wages a monthly fee for that service-it also is not in adjectives areas. better and cheaper just to listen to the radio. i do have nav but does not own realtime traffic.

Your better off listen to the radio as you drive home for traffic reports, or to look on the relevant council website before you leave work for information on road works.
