freeway usually means a highway without stops; All road change are use by exit roads and ramps. They are usually a US Interstate Highway or US Highway. Sometimes state and local roads have freeway, but enormously few when the road is not a under a Federal system.

A highway is a road that connects more than one city or town and has traffic priority over other roads but is subordinate to the freeway, but freeways and other highway usually intersect by ramps, exit, and entry roads.

A thru way is resembling a short freeway (usually within a metro area that get you directy from one point to another.

a thruway i have no idea

however a highway, is usually merely 2-3 lanes and goes straight, a primary difference is that highways arent above the ground. And highways are for long distances more than smaller number, because highways can go for miles and miles and miles beside jus t fields.

a freeway has interchanges and overpasses frm other freeways. Freeways are more for commuting inside the city. Freeways are above ground, and have around 6 lanes. Freeways also own more twists and turns.

Freeways lack "at grade" intersections - no traffic lights, just on and sour ramps, and bridges / tunnels.

Highways, in Ontario, Canada, are defined as any public road.

A 'Thruway' may refer to a toll-road.

So, a highway is any public road
A freeway is any road, public or not, lacking intersections,
and a thruway is a toll road, whether public or not, and whether a freeway or not.

Answers:    For the most part people use freeway and highway interchangibly. I really never use freeway much.

I'll say-so the highway or the interstate alot. If its not an interstate its just a highway. If its a very small highway within an urban area I sometimes just nickname it "a big road XD"

Then of course the tollway is the tollway or the tollroad, and the turnpike is just the turnpike.

I infer it all depends where you're from, but the 3 you planned are basically the same item.
