Which of the two road choices are best for commuting by bike within my nouns?

I am looking to try eliminating the expensive car from my enthusiasm, so I'm seeing if biking to work (normally 3 days a week). Would work for me.

I live in Michigan and there are simply two roads that go to my workplace that aren't ridiculously out of the way. One is a small 2 lane highway that have curves and hills, lower traffic, but is rather decrease.

The other choice is a large 4 lane road that is straight near good visibility, no hills or curves and is roughly 5 lanes wide, but it can carry pretty busy.

I am not sure which is the better choice, I know to avoid busy roads, but I have tried riding down the narrower road and I'm afraid of causing a cranium on collision from cars moving to avoid me.

The speed of traffic on both lanes is generally 55 mph.

Should I choose a lane, or move about for a Vespa scooter instead?

How can we weigh the volume...

Answers:    Go with the scooter, it's economical & fun & safer then a bike.
