Truck driver says that after logging past its sell-by date from the job, one could technically be cited of late for driving his own personal sedan type vehicle after work. Sounds silly to me, but is it possible Class A drivers have to preserve a log book even when driving your own personal sedan vehicle? Thanks in credit.
Log books are strictly for keeping track of your time while driving a commercial vehicle. Your time in your personal vehicle is only that, personal.
Someone is pulling your leg.

It is not true.
Answers: The only exception to your query would be if you parked a truck in one location and drove your personal vehicle to another location to pick up another truck and drive it.
You would not log the time surrounded by your personal vehicle as "driving", but you would have to log it as row 4, "on-duty not driving" to be legal.
Also... if you be to ride with another driver to a location to pick up a truck, if you did not own ten hours off duty upon your arrival at that second location, you would enjoy to log the travel time with the other driver as "on-duty, not driving" to be legalized. This can get a short time crazy if you have to jump quite a distance to win to that second location.
If you are finished with your light of day in the truck and are head home in your personal coup¨¦, you do not have to log it.
