SO im considering buying a GPS for my boyfriend for christmas....to be honest i suck at buying electronics I do not know anything about GPS or how it works...I be looking at a TOMTOM.....so my questiosn are...
do they work well
DO you own to pay monthly on them similar to a subscription cost
any info would be very much appreciated
Answers: If you buy Tomtom you are buying a designer sign
I bought a GPS system off Ebay and salaried just over lb100 ($200) for it give or take a few 1/3rd the price of a Tomtom and it has never steered me wrong
The solitary slight probs I have have is coming up to a new road layout. Roundabout, New junction etc.
But if I mistakenly take the wrong exit it tell me about it inside about 15 second so I can turn around and try again
My setup came beside UK and Ireland maps pre-loaded and adjectives I had to do be register the map to my GPS. This was done on flash and cost me nothing extra.
You switch it on, Wait a few second till the GPS acquires satellites, Tell it the address or Postcode of your destination, Tell it to find your route (a one button press)
Viola!
It give me a turn by turn audio commentary and visuals about turns and roundabout coming up as much as three miles ahead (if I am on a straight road)
And pinpoints my position on the ocular withing 10 yards (10 meters) or smaller amount of my actual location.
It's the best purchase I ever made apart from my car
I can't recommend them outstandingly enough.
I needed to find a shop in my own city (Stoke on Trent UK) I looked up their postcode on the network, entered it into my GPS it guided me unerringly to the shop and of late as I drove onto their car park my system said 'You own reached your destination'. Can't receive more accurate than that
They work great. Very easy to use. There is no monthly cost.
