My husband has been stopping our saloon sometimes with the emergency brake when it is close to stopping anyway. My parents always said that ruined the e brake. My husband say it doesn't hurt. Who is right?
its call an emergency brake for a reson. No its not wise to use it as a brake. On most cars with backside disk breaks, it can actually be the style that actual break shoes inside the the "hat" of the rotor. If thats the case, you really should do that. Those are severely very thin pool liner to begin with and wonttake long to wear down. If its the elder brake drum style brakes. then its still not something i would do alot. depending upon the liners on the shoes, its a honest way to shear them off. I used to do it alot to product the back of the car slide sideways but intellectual soon when i was young.
Either passageway, its not a good practice to get into.
It's not a correct practice. The emergency brake is designed to stop a vehicle which starts moving from a dead halt. Using it instead of a regular brake only burns past its sell-by date the abrasive sandpaper-like surface of the emergency brake, which, when it is gone will have to be replaced.
yes it will mess up your hole brake system and cost more to fix

Answers: With most modern cars, the e-brake is a much smaller pad on the rear wheel. It is there just to hold the saloon while parked and not intended for stopping. It will wear out much faster than regular brakes. As well as regular brakes are normally powered, as surrounded by activated hydraulicly, where e-brakes are manually set, and the instruction manual connection, again, wears much faster than powered brakes.
