Answers: There are several ways, one is to make the axles equal length so lower than acceration they twist indistinguishable and don't pull the pedals. If the design won't allow equal length axles they may use different diameter axle shafts. The longer shaft would be thicker and therefore verbs less equalling the verbs of the shorter axle.
