Is premium or regular gasoline better for a smog interview?

OK, in spite of reading dozens of articles that argue that it's impossible, my 1996 Toyota Celica ST contradicts adjectives wisdom: It can lug either regular or premium gasoline (premium is "recommended"), and enactment is measurably better using premium. (Measured by timing the acceleration from 60 to 80 dozens of times over the same stretch of road beside the same load). Gas mileage seem virtually the same using any one, but that's much harder to test reliably.

So I do the sensible article: I tank up near regular for my commute, and tank up beside premium when I'm going to the mountains and need more power.

Here's the stickler: I own a smog test coming up. I know that I'm going to leave behind with flying colors any way (c'mon - a 4-cylinder Toyota that get 35 mpg highway? It's a shoo-in to pass), but I'm curious: Would there be a measurable difference contained by smog using regular versus premium? I'm sure as heck not going to pay for two smog test, but I'm curious.

Answers:    Based on the things you say in the order of your car, I assume you will do just fine on the oral exam with regular fuel. If you use premium fuel below conditions that do not demand it, the extra compunds contained by your fuel just be in motion out of your tailpipe, and can actually put together your test reading worse.

What is the smallest sports car I...

I've owned and currently own a Celica, either 4 or 6 cyl. and I'v NEVER used anything but regular. And other passed. Never had a drop of production. I think you're wasting money using better octane. If your car is properly tuned and doesn't "ping" lower than a load such as going up hill or mountains then you really don't involve premium fuels.
