Best car ever made?
Firstly it does not have any a BMW or an M badge on it, So how could it be the best car ever made.
It be not the fastest 4 door sedan in the world in 1971. I dont deliberate so.
The Mercedes Benz 300 SEL held this crown with it 6.8litre AMG engined variant gifted of 285km/hr and staggering (for the time) acceleration 0-100 in under 5 second.
It was built from an average family sedan by adding up a truck engine and relatively inadequate brakes and handling which is the key idea why so many crashed in the quicker days (my father a driver with racing experience owned an XY GT beside HO mods a short time as a road car- he thought it handle close to a peice of wet soap). There were also some tremendously fast lighter weight coupes of this era approaching the BMW CSL which in racing form have 3 litre engines producing between 470 and 740 hp thundering along at 175mph plus (like the car Peter Brock drove in Europe surrounded by the mid 70's)
The incredably successful Porshe 917 series of sports cars of this era were approximately 100mph faster than the GTHO with one litre smaller quantity capacity! Best car evermade?

it was the fastest car built at the time but for individual the best car ever made... has drum beakes adjectives round (before disk brakes came out) and as for anything with progress come newer appurtenances and better ways to manufacture cars for the safety of the occupant

Answers: There is one at the Brisbane International Motor Show on offer for $780,000.For its time sure, it was the best. Manufacturers would not be team game to put an updated version on the market today. Imagine the Sh*t collide that would happen today if Ford were to put out a production sedan talented of 300 kph.
