Is towing a 6x10 roofed trailer next to a 1996 Pontiac Bonneville SE going to grenade the nouns?

My father wants to use his 1996 Bonneville SE with a 3.8, automatic, to tow a 6x10 sheltered trailer cross country with a light to moderate nouns in the trailer. Assuming he keeps it contained by drive and no overdrive, what are your experiences, and any mechanics, thoughts?

He is set on doing it so how far down the road should I make plans to go attain him? lol

I intuitively wouldnt do it cause a car is not made for towing. If he is determined to do it I would check on putting a tranny cooler on it and conceivably trailer brakes to help him slow down without buring the brakes rotten the car.

Mazda, Chrysler or Audi?

Answers:    It probably wouldn't hurt to have the car's brakes checked first, as stopping the added weight of the trailer can clear the car's brakes work a lot harder.

I believe the towing capacity of your dad's Bonneville is somewhere around 3500 lbs. With the proper hitch mounted to the saloon, as long as the load (combined weight of trailer and contents) is kept below this numeral, he should be fine.
