Is there a way to find out the cost/price of the electronic controllers (ECU) used surrounded by the systems like Adaptice cruise control (ACC), Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW)? Or is it possible to find the % of ECU price in the above systems. I know the pricing of adjectives these systems as a whole but i'm interested in knowing the price of the ECUs. Thanks
Answers: I asked my son. He works for Chrysler engineering. He said that ECU's (as an Electronic Control System - as dead set against an Engine Control System... which is what you asked about) are IMBEDDED SYSTEMS, meaning you CAN'T separate the cost.
He said that Chrysler's ECU's control more than 50 different items, including the ones you mentioned, and obviously oodles more. I was amazed.
So, to precisely answer your question, nearby is NO way to determine the cost of an ECU, because you can't break it out of the whole in need destroying the whole thing.
