Question for empire who use a navigation system surrounded by their coup¨¦...?

I just bought my first new motor yesterday(Toyota Prius) and it has a navigation system in it, which I love because I other get lost. The few places we've driven so far, it has be very accurate. I'm wondering if I can always count on it anyone spot-on and getting me where I'm trying to go. I'm used to lately Map-Questing everything first so I'm nervous to just acquire in my car and trust it if I hold no idea where I'm going. Are they other so accurate that you don't have to worry??

I lost the key to my 2005...

Answers:    If you haven't have any problems with MapQuest.com or maps.yahoo.com or mapsonus.com , next you shouldn't have any problems with the Toyota navigation system steering you wrong. I've see the same map errors show up in adjectives of the above, since they all seem to use impossible to tell apart map database company. (for example, my previous apartment was the last house on a dead-end street, but if you map it with any of the above it was simply 1/2 way down the street with another 30+ nonexistant houses to bring back to the end!)

If you don't accidentially leave on an way out to avoid highways or toll roads, or have too plentiful "areas to avoid" blocks set up, you shouldn't have any real map problems. The built-in Toyota unit does include some internal gyroscopes and is hooked up to the car's speed signal, so it can do some dead-reckoning to figure out where on earth you are if you do lose satellite signal (such as in a parking garage, tunnel, or when surrounded by tall buildings).

The big difference between have printed maps (such as from a road atlas, or printing directions from MapQuest or similar), and the navigation system in your saloon, is that the car knows where on earth you are in relation to your directions. If you make a wrong turn or are detoured off-route, the navigation system can re-steer you pay for to your intended destination.

(Personally, I've enjoyed trying out new restaurants by displaying such icon on the screen...)

Toyota navigation DVD updates can be very pricy, so unless you find that your navigation isn't working vastly well for you, or there's a LOT of new road construction contained by your area, you should be fine for a number of years.

If you requirement some help figuring out how to use the Toyota navigation system (if the Navigation Owner's Manual/supplement is too difficult to amount out), then I might suggest these tutorials:
