Tire size within inchs not metric!?

Wnat size is a 235/75R16 tire =in normal tire sizing ( like 32X1150 15 ) Dont underseand this meyric stuff Just want to no its largeness & width in inchs THANKS

Car broke down surrounded by another state,...

ok, this is severely easy stuff. 235/75-16

235 is the width of the tread within mm (millimeters)
75 is the "aspect ratio" or, the height of the sidewall as a % of the width
16 is the rim diameter contained by inches that the tire will fit

So, to find the total height, do this:
16 + (235 x .75) = 16in + 176.25mm now you convert the mm into inches, this is the tricky sector if you're not familiar with component conversion. But 1in = 2.54 cm and 1cm = 10 mm. The idea is to manipulate the numbers 176.25, 2.54, 10, 1 and 1 near their corresponding unit so the units annul leaving only inches. Here's how:

(176.25mm)(1cm/10mm)(1in/2.54cm) = 6.9389in or 7in. The 7 is multiplied by 2, because 7 is simply half of your tire's diameter; 7 x 2 =14. This equation 16 + 176.25, now become, 16in + 14in = 30in. Your tire, plus your rim, is approximately 30 inches tall. These measurements are very slightly different from one company to another.

An high-status note, the bigger the tire, the slower you'll go, the harder your engine will hold to work, the more fuel you'll use.
Width is 235 mm = 9.25 inch. the "75" is the aspect ratio meaning that the tire section height above sea level is 75% of the width = 6.9 in. 16 inches is the rim diameter - So - 16 + 6.9 + 6.9 = 29.8 for the approximate outside diameter. the rim diametr is still expressed contained by inches. I think it comes from the fact that tire "invention" and volume business started in the USA basically near Harvey Firestone. So - all tires started out being "inch" sizes and lately for standardization the wheel diameter in inches be adopted for the world. Then with the move to metric they started expressing the distance in millimeters but since there be so much existing tooling for wheels - and tire molds they kept the inch size for the diameter.
in the rash 1980's Michelin, Ford and BMW tried to go to a metric diameter wheel - so they made 360 and 390 mm wheel (14.2 and 15.3 inches). They thought the rest of the industry would follow their lead and migrate to metric wheels. it didn't crop up. after about 5 years they gave up on the 360/390 mm wheel and went back to inch size. thats how it happen. Near as i can tell NOBODY makes a 360 or 390 tire currently.

Do u still have need of to...

Long live the metric system!

Guys you should know this?

Answers:    Actually, the16 within that Tire class "235/75R16" IS in inches ...
Use this link and they show you what the size works out to within inchs all around ...

Ethanol fuel?

The 235 is the tread span in centimeters, the 75 is the percentage of sidewall height to tread size. The R is the speed rating, and the 16 is the diameter of the wheel rim, in inches.

Your Metric Size of 235/75 R 16 =

Outer Diameter: 29.87 "
Section Width: 9.251 "
Rim Size: 16"

Do Hondas really own a horsepower reduce?

should be about 30x9.50R16
