What is kept beneath the coffin shelf within a hearse?

I was looking at a hearse the other day, and catch sight of that it has like a wooden cupboard which raise up the coffin so it can be seen out the window.

Do they use the cupboard/bottom for any specific purpose?

Room for another coffin.Hearses are used as pickups to take the departed to the mortuary as well as ceremonial cars.
They usually have another coffin within there, complete with body.
It save time going back to "base" and loading up again.
This is not a joke, I enjoy seen it done!
Wouldn`t be surprised if they didn`t use the same flowers again any.
I'm not sure if you are referring to the doors that lift up inside the side doors on a hearse, If that's the case, you hold on to a church truck inside one of them. That is the device used to put the casket on when you wheel it into the church. Other than that, there is really no specific items that are placed surrounded by there. And there is not an extra casket surrounded by there.

Answers:    That cupboard holds the "church truck", which is the pushcart with wheels that transports the casket down the aisle at church. It does not hold another casket.

Who first developed the first "Hemi" engine?

I'm guessing you mean the panel you move up up to gain access to underneath the floor of the hearse rear. On some models, they store a church truck under within, which is a rolling cart you can accordian open to put a casket on so you can roll it along making it easier for the pallbearers to move the casket around. On other hearses, approaching my '65 Caddy Miller Meteor, it allows access to the electric casket table motor and the levelizer motor (levels out the hearse). There is also a space underneath mine for the spare tire. I worked at funeral homes for years and Morticians just use it to stash things down there too. There's no trunk on a hearse and keeping the subdivision the public can see tidy is a must in the funeral business. I've seen the following things kept lower than there: extra funeral windsheld stickers for the funeral procession, smellng salts, prayer cards, casket key to lock the casket, umbrellas, whatever. Hope that helps.
