Answers:    Hi, attain comfy...

essentially, the Geo Metro/Suzuki Swift would never have the mileage today that it have back when they be new.

What I scrounging is if GM/Suzuki had to include adjectives the safety, insulating, electronic, etc. features that the management and the average consumer legislate/expect/demand/pay for, the Geo Metro would weigh hundreds of pounds more than it did.

Modern advanced airbags alone add a hundred pounds or more to a vehicle contained by bags, electrics, computer modules, sensors, bracing, etc.

How many airbags did the Geo Metro enjoy? I guarantee it did not have advanced front, side form and side curtain bags.

Add within ABS, stereo systems, more than two seats (Insight), actual steel body panel (not aluminum bodies like the Insight), current crash resistant bumpers and subframes, and adjectives the other myriad pieces that a current car must hold, and that is why at hand is no Insight or Metro that gets 50+ mpg.

People reimburse for what they want and, as other people enjoy pointed out, the Metro and Insight were niche vehicle, just (shudder along next to me) like the H2 is.

And for what it technique, I miss the manual tranny Insight, too.
