After an auto stroke of luck?

I had an auto accident today, nearby was an officer there when it happen. Then we wrote reports and the officers told me I should call my insurance company ASAP. Luckily, not a soul was injured. The damage wasn't huge, the other person's car's door is messed up that she couldn't start it. My bumper was cracked just a bit bit. It happened in a parking lot and my friend say it could be a no fault accident. But I enjoy no clue since it is the first time I got into accident.

My friend told me I should dally till the case report come out then opt whether to call the insurance company or not. Should I call them very soon or not? Is my rate gonna go up since the other person is gonna name their insurance company to report the accident?

I can't detail you if this is a "no fault" accident bc you did not give any details. However a moment ago bc it happened in a parking lot, doesnt expect the real at fault personage is not at fault. There may be negligence on both drivers.

The insurance company will take statements from both drivers and acquire a copy of the police report. Your insurance company will decide who is at fault here. Its not up to you to formulate that decision.

Answers:    If you wait to hail as your insurance company, they will find out from the other company anyway. Sounds like it was possibly your fault? It's doubtful that they will raise your rate over this one twist of fate. But if you have lots of fender-benders, they most definitely will.

There really isn't such a thing as a 'no fault' chance. Unless you are in a no fault state, your owner will investigate the accident and make a determination as to if you be at fault or not. If once they have your statement, the other drivers statement, the pictures of the damages, and the police report they determine you at reproach they will fix the other parties damages or pay for the damages that folks insurance paid for. If they find you not at fault they will try to collect put a bet on your damages from the other company. Also, the last poster is incorrect that the company will just look at the police report to determine who is at blemish. Most of the time police reports are a good indicator of fault, but they are not the be adjectives end all. In reality, I have had cases where on earth my insured was cited and we found them not at fault, and surrounded by fact won some of these in arbitration (ie: my insured driving surrounded by shoulder, other driver making left turn through stopped traffic, my insured cited for not following marked lines (greater duty of attention really was on the left turn driver)). Just budge ahead and report it, especially if you already know that the other driver is not at fault or at least is contesting if they be at fault because they are going to file a claim next to your company anyways.
