i just bought a vehicle and i am waiting for the regerstration form, so i can tax it. i call dvla and they wouldnt give me the number over the phone, i own to wait for the post.
Answers: Well i did, shouldn't own really but i had to continue for my tax disc within the post so technically i had saloon tax but i suppose the law is it have to be displayed in your saloon.
I did it a few years ago too, was worried because my stipend hadn't hit my bank sketch & my tax have run out but i needed my car to go and get to work, so i called the DVLA & they said that i have two weeks in which to return with some but wasn't allowed to use my car doing a tour, i still did though.
The problem is though if you get pulled by the police they will report it & near are also mobile road tax cameras out at hand as well.
I've read that you can't and if you seize stopped they will fine you lb40 (which is cheaper that the tax!) If you have the small slip from the bottom of the old registration document you could toll it now.
