Here is the story. My brother got into a car coincidence with my "uninsured" vehicle. And the other party is in a minute suing for damages. It was a fender bender and the other party is suing for 10K. The other jamboree had whiplash and most of the claim is the vehicle damage to her saloon.
I am still paying to get my vehicle fixed and have to do it in need INSURANCE. So that is taking a toll in my pocket. My brother took my vehicle knowing that I have parked it for the winter and still drove it, even though the registration was still valid. My interrogate is am I still liable for this? Even though I wasn't at the scene of the accident, however, I am the owner of the vehicle. Preferably someone with experience within auto insurance or a lawyer, please advise.
P.S. My brother lives next to me.
Very simple, it is your vehicle so you are responsible for any and all damages and costs.
Your vehicle your responsibility. You can recoup your losses from your brother. You should hold reported the car stolen. you would have be off the hook but your brother would have have to do jail time.
yes yoo are liable yoo will be sued if they want to sue yoo .if yoo are lucky they will personally sue yor brother but if they find out that yoo have more money than yor bro after then can sue yoo . yoo might have to steal yor bro to court ! make yor brother pay !its individual fair!
my sister got into an twist of fate like this'
now . unless you want to press charges on your brother for taking the vehicle lacking your permission then it still falls on you. it is your coup¨¦ and they will say that you allowed him to drive your car minus insurance
If you dont pay for it then the dmv will bring your license until you do.
They took my sister's license for it and that was four years ago
and no there is no cut on how long they can keep your license
its not like a ticket that dissappears within 3 years
she has to pay 6,000 dollars up to that time her license will be reinststed.
good luck with this though
i antipathy to see someone else going throught it.

Sorry but you are liable as the owner. Your only recourse is to recoup the money from your brother.
quiz 2 are you his legal guardian if he is a minor?
i would say from my course of looking at it
if he isnt a minor and you or not his guardian and he was aware the car be parked for winter with no insurance the uninsured vehicle law shouldnt affect you brother have a bill to pay and if any refusal to make payoff i would hate to say it but you would own all legal grounds to sue him it seem harsh treatment for a family applicant however paying a for wreck you didnt do isnt cool either

Does your brother have insurance? If yes, you might be capable of claim under his policy, depending on the conditions of his policy.
If no, then sorry, you are still liable for the other person's damages because you are the vehicle owner.
If you have insurance and it cancelled, file the claim w/ them anyways and let your insurance company know that a lawsuit be filed against you. They may still defend you contained by court under a Reservation of Rights. However ultimately you will still be responsible for paying the other parties damages.
Hope this help

Answers: You are the owner of the vehicle and are liable for the damage as the owner, along with your brother as the driver! You will enjoy to pay for the damages that were cause. You can then sue your brother to recover the costs you incurred! If the $10 claim is mostly for damages to the sports car, it was more than a "fender bender"
Get a lawyer to represent you (not you and your brother, here will be a conflict of interest) and to defend against the lawsuit for damages! You will have to payment the actual damages.
You then can sue you your brother to recover the amount of damages that you have to pay, the cost of repairing your vehicle and the cost of your lawyer.
Depending on your financial situation, and the amount of damages, you may want to consider file bankruptcy.
I would definitely consider not living beside a brother who put you in this situation!
