Car Rental Libility/Deductible?

I recently rented a car and purchased the insurance at the rental for the hours of daylight (ECD) However while I was parked someone scraped the bumper while parking as well and moved out me his contact information. I provided the company with his information. I received a bill today charging me $1,000 dollars for the damages and I am unsure why are they charging me. I would like to know how does it work? Why are they charging me? The contract say my liability for damages is $500, what does that mean? And how does deductible apply? I am paying for all of the damages or is it solely used while the person and the insurance pay and I take a refund later? I am really desperate because it is my first time renting a coup¨¦. I would like to understand what is going on since the company have no bother to explain to me properly.

Does anyone know the best instrument and...

In texas how much is the ticket...

first off did you pay for insurance when you rented the coup¨¦, and what type of coverage did you get. the basic is third get-together liability which pretty much just covers people you hit but own limits, the other is comprehensive or all risk which essentially process no matter what the circumstance your insurance will cover the damage.

however near is such a thing called depreciation, if a vehicle is devastate and/or a part of it is damaged requiring replacement, the replacement would accordingly entail cost and the damaged part of a set discarded. now the new part of a set and the damaged (to be discarded part) have a difference within value (depreciated) since it's older than the trial part the new fragment costing x amount compared to the other which has dereciated. that difference therefore become the deductible which you'll have to pay for underneath all risk or comprehensive insurance.
it'll be well advise for you to check the cost of what ever they've replaced (through receipt) so you'll know if you're paying for the whole thing which you shouldnt underneath an all risk insurance.

Carfax vin check please!! urgent?

Answers:    If anyone can understand ojbm's (incorrect) statement, please let me know.

Have you call the rental company and asked them about the bill? I'd start there. They can agree to you know if there is a deductible on the policy you obtained. Each rental company call their insurance by a different name. I'm not sure what "ECD" is. As mentioned, call the rental company and find out what it covers.

You also have need of to contact the at fault parties delivery service and file a claim with them, as you are ultimatly responsible for the wrong to the rental vehicle. Again, _you_ need to file the claim and not rely on anyone else to pedal the matter.

Just a note: Depreciation is not an issue. What I _think_ be being mentioned is called Diminishment of Value. It should not be an issue here, as nearby was very minor sabotage to the rental vehicle.
