Driving the works vehicle lacking insurance (but not aware of this)?

I was only just stopped in the works articulated vehicle by the police and told i was not on the insurance to drive it and that merely my boss was on the insurance. When i confronted my boss he told me he have taken me off the insurance when i be in hospital as he thought he be getting a new lorry and he would have insured me for that. But as you guessed it, he never get the new lorry and failed to put me backbone on the insurance. My boss confessed to the police he had kept this information from me and that i have no idea i be driving without insurance.

Im very soon being sumonsed to court for driving beside no insurance and my boss is trying to bribe me into taking the rap for the whole situation (of which i enjoy told him im not interested in bribes and he can appropriate responsibility for his own actions).

How will the court see this matter, and am i credible to end up beside a hefty fine and points on my license for something i was not aware of?
