I just got surrounded by a car accident. I am pretty positive that the other do is liable. I called their insurance and they said they cover $28 per day while my saloon is in the shop or something like that, but not while it sits and not worked on.
But my brother told me that they should fully cover my rental for at smallest a month since the other party is liable. Is this true?
Liability has not be determined yet... can I pay for a rental out of my own pocket in a minute and get reimbursed later by showing them the receipts?
Answers: Well..since your brother is not the one paying the bill.I'd listen to the adjuster and not him.
Each company take a slightly different approach to rental cars. So how the company I work for does things may be different from the at fault mover.
First off - the insurance company is not going to pay for a rental until they hold completed their investigation and determined that their insured is responsible. Once they have done that - they will agree to pay for a plausible rental.
Usually the insurance company will only pay the each day rate and tax. If you take out any smash up waivers or additional insurance on the rental car - they will not reimburse for that.
What I tell people - is to procure a rental car at their own expense. Get the cheapest car you can grasp away with (usually under 25 per day). If I adopt liability - I will pick up the rental bill (daily rate and tax). But if I do not accept liability - then you are responsible for the rental bill.
You will inevitability to speak to the adjuster that is handling your claim - not the secretary or call center. The adjuster the report is assigned to will be able to tell you how they feel things.
