If you have an international licence and did NOT apply for a UK provisional then you would hold been able to drive within the UK using your international license for 12 months. After you have been contained by this country for 12 months you would either need to apply for a UK provisional, miss your theory test and consequently pass your practical test OR you could hand down the UK, then return and you can use your licence for another 12 months.
IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A UK PROVISIONAL LICENCE THEN YOUR INTERNATIONAL LICENSE IS NO LONGER VALID IN THE UK!
