Insurance give somebody the third degree?

Heres the deal, we just this minute were reverse ended, some kid didn't look both ways previously crossing the street, so my girlfreind braked for him, and this guy hits our rear stop. We have full coverage on our sports car, with a $500 deductible. Anyway we cart it to the body shop and have them fix it, they name us to pick it up, and are informed we owe the body shop $500 before they will release the vehicle to us. Is this right? We weren't told anything almost this prior to the work being done. And it's other been my recognition that since the accident wasn't our show disapproval nothing should come out of our pocket. any give support to would be greatly appreciated.

Car Insurance Claim Courtesy Car Allowance?

Answers:    Your insurance deductible has nought to do with denounce.

When you took out your automobile insurance policy - you agreed to pay for the first 500 of blight if your insurance company would pay for everything after that. It does not thing who's fault the happenstance is. The deductible also applies per occurrence (not 1x per year close to a health insurance deductible).

Most probable here's what will happen: your insurance company settles beside you under your collision (you retribution the 500 ded to the shop). Then they go after the at idiosyncrasy driver's insurance to pay them pay for (a process called subrogation.). They will ask for the money they remunerated and your 500 ded. Once they get rewarded by the other persons insurance, they will forward the deductible they collected on your behalf to you.

"no fault" refers to a medical coverage - it have nothing to do beside a property claim. It's a common mistake for population to think that resources you can cause accident and it's no ones fault b/c it's a "no fault" state. (the TRUE name for "no fault" coverage is Personal Injury Protection or PIP).

The body shop will not release the motor until they are paid for the work they did. Too heaps body shop managers enjoy been burned by letting a vehicle go when money is owed to them - so they don't do it any more. In direct to get your motor, you will have to pay cheque your 500 deductible.

Or....you can ask your adjuster to contact the at fault mover to see if the at fault mover will "advance" your deducible. What this means - is the at culpability carrier sends the 500 ded to the shop or to you. Your insurance company sends them a notification agreeing that if they pay the 500 ded very soon - your company will not ask for it when they subrogate (meaning they will only collect what they compensated b/c the other company has already remunerated you your deductible). However, this only works if the other mover has completed their investigation and permitted liability and is willing to do it.

Setting this up also creates a unharmed bunch of work for your adjuster that is generally not done. There is a reason we don't do this on every claim. Trust me, your adjuster have more work than hours in the year. If they can set up to have the other shipper advance your deductible - it would be a nice item for you to drop a quick data in the e-mail to the adjuster's boss letting them know that you appreciate your adjuster going above and beyond to help you out.

I have nearly $2000 worth of tools...
