Even beside that statement you will get a ticket, the mode around this to write a fake bill of sale, that you purchased the trailer from him on the day that you are going to use it. You call for the VIN # the trailer description, color, total selling price and the name of the purveyor. and Put in the AS/Is and the purchase price. Signature of purveyor and his address, and your name and address.
The DMV give you a reasonable amount of time to register a just now purchased vehicle or Trailer, from 15-60 days depending on the state.
So this Way if you are stopped you can simply show the officer the Bill of sales and enlighten him that you just bought it.
But, here is the take into custody, The car that you put on this trailer must hold a current registration and plates on it. Even if the trailer was really purchased clean or not.
The law states the any vehicle within tow must have current registration and plate unless it's on or surrounded by an enclosed trailer or a interested trailer that has a valid registration.
So if the trailer have not plates because you just bought it, next the car your hauling must own plates (current)
