Moped Insurance for my 16yr outdated son?

I am looking for moped insurance for my son. I am going to be paying for it and i would like to do it monthly.

Does anyone know of some cheap insurers? And also should i insure it surrounded by my name or his given name?

Ive tried a few and because ive been putting contained by my sons name they wont alllow me to foot monthly as he is under the age of eighteen. Also if i put within my name, i havn't taken a bike question paper. Do i need to bear a bike test to insure a moped surrounded by my name?

Im sooooooo confused!!

Please oblige!

Answers:    Typically, insurance rates are filed by the diverse insurance companies that are licensed to do business in your State, and they oscillate from State to State.

The best thing to do is phone a LOCAL independent agent. Just look in the phone book for the PIA or Big I (Trusted Choice) logos and you will find a professional licensed agent that will be capable of help you solve your insurance problems.

An independent insurance agent will in general have a dozen different companies and if he cannot comfort you, he should be networked next to other local agents that can. Be sure to ask them if they write motorcycle insurance.

A lot of folks say "PROGRESSIVE" and as an agent, I use them but, they are NOT other the best. Each rider is judged by his/her own merits - experience (riding a motorcycle ON THE STREET, type of bike, age, driving journal, credit score - so, you might look for American Modern Home, Pacific Specialty, Foremost, Dairyland, Victoria (just to christen a few.)

As far as liability only, we write it for as low as $46.00 per YEAR!! So, be sure to look around!

Since your son is ONLY 16, he cannot sign a contract and an insurance policy IS a contract between you and the insurance company. He will hold to be 18 before he can sign on his own.

You might also REQUIRE him to thieve a Motorcycle Safety Course - just ask around at your local motorcycle shops and they can report you how to contact a local instructor.

And just a rule of thumb: The closer you come to riding straight up and down, the lower the rates will be. The obverse of this is ALSO true...the more you hold to lean forward becoming closer to the horizontal to ride the bike, the HIGHER the rates will be.

Good luck, ride RESPONSIBLY and I hope this helps!

Actually depending on the state you live within you may not have to acquire insurance. I would check that first. I only know around that law within Montana though because I live here. Check your local insurance company first though.
