Why is it that when points on a driving licence stay on for 3 years do insurance companies require details of endorsements over the second 5 years?

Can you bring back your Virginia driver's...

Because

1) Points stay on your licence for 4 years.
2) The conviction is not 'spent' until five years! The reason why the conviction can be removed is because it can no longer be taken sketch of when considering a ban for 'tottingup' of points.

It is a peculiar anonamly and as an insurance broker this is one of the question I am often asked. (Especially as several people forget the conviction details once they are removed from the licence. I would keep hold of them on for 5 years so you can tell the insurance companythe correct details,

Because they are the one's taking the risk by insuring you - they want to know how good or impossible you are as a driver.

You break the law and next criticise those taking the risks to cover you.

If everyone drove responsibly - we would not have such giant premiums paying toward those that can't be bothered to drive properly or those that can't be bothered to get insurance

Answers:    Insurance companies are underwriting a risk, so they are entitled to set the rules, which own nothing to do beside the driver's licence. There are companies that ask for 7 years records. The ones beside tickets and accidents attain right ticked off, but the ones near clear records close to it because the claim-free discount is larger. The only citizens that would complain about the extra 2 years on the insurance company annals are the people who can't be paid it that long without an fluke or violation. In Manitoba, the points are gone, but the text actually shows backbone to 1990, for insurance and driver licence, so don't complain.

It depends on the insurance company.
Most Standard Insurance companies will require to know your driving history for the last 5 years, and they may also require a credit check.
They requirement this information to determine if you meet their guidlines and standards to insure you, also to engineer sure you are being charged the correct amount of premium.

Its not a rip sour. Don't get upset by the insurance company for the tickets you've have. Its not their fault

"Yer average" points are live for three years, but remain on your licence for four years. Some points are live for ten years and stay on for eleven.

Why is it a rip-off? If I be asked to take a lay a wager on a driver (which is what insurance is) I'd want to know as much as practicable about his track dictation, wouldn't you?

Typically a "new" insurance delivery service wants to see your over-all history. The want to see if you are claims conscious and how much backing activity that you might own had.

Now....by "endorsements" - the industry in general means "calculation to a policy or deleting something from a policy" - is this what YOU denote? I know I have some clients that probably brand name a change every month or so...depending on IF their saloon is running or not or if they have have to replace a dead vehicle with a live one!

An insurance company will typically only charge you for accident and may charge for moving violations, or, they can choose NOT to insure you at adjectives...based on what they find during their "underwrite period" which is, in most cases, 30 to 60 days.

The best item you can do is to find yourself a LOCAL independent agent. Just look in the phone book for the PIA or Big I (Trusted Choice) logos and you will find a professional agent that usually has a dozen or more different companies to choose from to oblige solve your insurance problems!

Good luck, drive RESPONSIBLY and I hope this helps!
