Since you are speaking of "quid" instead of $$, I don't know what your local practice is. But in standard, when you put in pet name, you are taking some responsibility (in case of adjectives accident / suits)
But given you hold NOT known him that long, I would NOT intertwine your fair with his. It is much harder to hold yourself remove once you decide to dance your own way.
Just speak about him you have a rule not to do this generous of stuff until you've know the person for few years.
