Since later I have tried to get his insurance details from his partner, who be not very helpful, and said she didn't apprehend why we were involving the insurance company as it was "only a scratch". The bumper is scratched but more importantly, my car's engine is in the rear - so it could be tatty I have tried calling on them a couple of times and although I know they are in, they will not answer the door.
I suspect they are not insured. but I don't want to proceed next to a repair on my own insurance. Can I file a claim with purely their name and address and witness statements? Should I involve the police at this stage?
£800 for a nice motor, which get...
call the police, get a police report and sue himfirst of adjectives, file a police report, have them settle to all witnesses, if the damage is usually over $500, the police will later obtain the insurance information from the individual at fault. if this is not to your indulgence, file a small claims court case against them. Should they not enjoy insurance, and cannot provide the police with proof of insurance, they can even loose thier license, and will not be able to grasp it back for up to 90 days and have to prove that they hold obtained coverage. You might want to have a nice conversation and state these facts to them prior to calling the police, might be satisfactory to get them to come forward with the info

What Are The Royal Car Registrations?
They should by law have given you the insurance details, relate them that unless they give them straight away you will go to the Police, and if they don't, afterwards go to the Police. They still need insurance even if very soon their car is only parked doing a tour. If you are fully comprehensive insurance in UK you should be OK even if he is not insured as your own insurance will pay for it.but don't rescheduling too long or your own insurance may refuse to pay as you did not inform them.Drop them a file saying that if they don`t supply their insurance details you will have no choice but to inform the police. Sounds as if they do not have insurance.
It won`t do a lot for neighbourly relations, but they are one unreasonable in their attitude.

if he does not pay. take him to small claims court.until you own got a quote for the damage not greatly you can do.
if it is in fact a score the costs may be minimal and it is possible your neighbour will pay you straight away.
post the quote recorded labour with a request for payment.
involving the police will not be any abet to you at all. they are not not going to get involved within civil actions because that is bascially what it is. up to in a minute no offences have be committed.
you only have to report a happenstance to the police within 24 hours if personal injuries have occured so no fault.

Well a person actually does not hold to give their insurance information to the person they hit. They hold the right to hold it. (Don't believe me, ask your insurance man) The best option for you is to file a claim small claims court after you bring the estimate of damage or call a lawyer/insurance agent and ask what you can do. You can also press charges beside the police, but that would be my last optionI doubt that the police will procure involved i would report it to yoour own insurance company and give them your neighbours name and adress and detail them that they refuse to give you their insurance details. i would also put a write down in your neighbours door telling them if they do not attain in touch with you surrounded by the next day or two you will report it to the police.

No need to involve insurance if it can be fixed at a reasonable price.Yes hail as the police and let them deal beside it. You shouldn't have to pay for his mistake. :-)

Have someone settlement next to this saloon...
In law it is not essential for your neighbour to report the incident to his insurance company, or to the police, if no one was injured. However, it would be better if you reported it to your local police station, to establish your bona-fides. You after need to sue your neighbor, in a civil conduct. Request a written statement from your neighbors, and tell them what you mean to do. If you enjoy a small claims court, usually for claims under lb1000. it will only cost you a small excise to take an action against your neighbor. When he receive an official summons from the small claims court, he will have to rob some action, and probably will settle with you past it costs him any more expense.Good Luck.Let the insurance company know, and they will take care of the individual that hit you.

HIs insurance (or withdrawal of it) is his business, your damaged car is your business.
Why on globe do you want to know his insurance details. Are you a pretend policeman?
Be practical. You make your damaged saloon your business. Take it to a garage or repair agent and have it checked out. Ask for an estimate, send it to the guy who cause the damage with a message asking him to pay you for the damage cause. You could even ask a solicitor to write a claim for you, if you prefer. If he pays up, end of story.
Maybe he sends it to his insurance company, they may quibble, they may want to see the blight caused, but ultimately it is the guy who caused the wrong that is responsible for making good your loss, if he does not settle up up, sue him.
When these claims come to court, it is important to show you are reasonable by minimising your losses, and perchance providing a couple or more estimates to show that they were not exorbitant.
Why do you want to involve your insurance company? The guy who does the damage is liable, not your insurance company, not his insurance company, not his partner, nor his children, nor anyone who saw it take place. He who is liable, pays the bill. How difficult is that?
You could involve the police, but they are not going to pay for the damage, any. What do you want? Your car repaired at no cost to yourself, or a neighbour being prosecuted and made to foot a fine? If, incidentally, he was not insured, and does get fined, you are imagined going to have to wait a while longer for your reimbursement!
yes, receive the police involved, it seems that your neighbor does not to foot the bill, good luck
