There should be a vin# some place on the vehicle. When you find that have a title check run to find the closing registered owner. Then hopefully you can contact them and they will help you by getting a duplicate title that can be used to verbs ownership to you.
There is an alternate course and that involves going through a title service and fees of course.
Be prepared, you might find out that is to say was stolen. If this is the grip, it can get awkward.
