UK) What does group 5 mean for saloon insurance?
My boyfriend is looking for a new coupé, he found a nice rover something or other and he wants to know how much insurance will cost he search on the internet and found the exact car he have viewed the light of day before and it said "insurance group 5" can anyone shed some lantern on what this means Thank you
Oh and does anyone know how big of a work it would be if the head gasket is blown?
(the pave the way gasket hasn't blown but rumours are rovers are prone to blown head gaskets and i be wondering how big of a job it would be to fix)
Thanks
Answers: Agree near first answer RE Insurance groups.
Rovers - good cars, cheap in a minute the company has gone bust, but here are rumours of a Chinese company ressurecting the MG brand.
Head Gaskets - yes the K-series engine fitted to most Rovers is prone to head gasket letdown. Most likely due to dearth of proper maintenance or treat roughly of the engine (hard accelerating etc). Have a look at the service history at the dealer and ask if it has have a recent gasket change. If it have, no problem. If it hasn't, look for the usual signs of head gasket bomb under the bonnet - creamy grease gunk on the inside of the oil filler panama, over-pressurising of the cooling system or streaks where marine has leak out down the engine block. If all looks devout, give it a travel. I think the lb800 estimate is a bit substantial, you're most likely looking at almost half of that if you pilfer it to a non-dealer garage. It will take them probably a unharmed day to fix it.
Failing that, buy a Honda Civic. It'll never break down!
Happy saloon hunting!
there are twenty groups, group 1 is for the little cars and group20 is for the supercars ferrari's ect. adjectives cars are put in a group depending on engine size, repair costs, and replacement helpfulness. the rover should be avoided unless its newer than the year 2000 as its not a matter of if the director gasket goes but when, lb800 bill to fix.
