Vehicle registration / insurance cross-question state to state?

I live in Florida. I'm 27.

My grandfather lives contained by Virginia. He is giving me a 90s model truck.

I want to drive it home on my Christmas visit.......

My question are:

1.)The truck will be driven in Florida. Do we verbs the registration in Florida or surrounded by VA?
2.) Do I purchase insurance in FL in the past I go or VA after I gain there?? I don't know.
3.) What would be the most cost-effective but LEGAL passageway to go nearly all of this??

Any help out much appreciated!! THANK YOU!!

Help beside insurance claim?

Answers:    To register it in Florida you will want a Florida Title.

To get a Florida Title, the VIN of the vehicle have to be inspected. For that to happen, the vehicle have to be in Florida.

You will any have to:
1) Get your grandfather to administer you a bill of sale (for $1.00) or similar.
Sign bad on the VA Title
Maintain insurance on the vehicle long enough to win it to Florida or get a Florida agent to issue you a binder/temporary insurance to tolerate you drive it back down to Florida where on earth you can have it inspected.

2)Transfer title within VA and get a contemporary VA Title and plates & insurance
Retitle it in Florida.

Option one is probably the lowest possible expensive

What should I know about VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) Verification surrounded by Florida?

When applying for a title on a motor vehicle previously registered or titled in another state, the VIN on the actual motor vehicle must be checked to ensure that the vehicle is duplicate as the one described on the proof of ownership.

The VIN can be verified by one of the following:

A law enforcement officer from any state.
A licensed Florida or out of state motor vehicle agent.
A county tax collector member of staff or Division of Motor Vehicle Compliance Examiner.
Provst Marshal or commissioned officer in helpful military service, with a grade of 2nd lieutenant or higher.
Form HSMV 82042, Part A may be completed and signed. The form is also available at your local due collector's office.

Therefore, unlike someone else suggested, you can't dance to VA with FL plates within your possession as you can't get the plates until the VIN is verified.

Can an Insurance company still be held...

Have him convey you the title, register it in Florida, buy your tag, purchase your insurance in Florida. Go to Virginia, put your Florida tag on it, and you're set to drive it home and keep driving once you're within.
