Vehicle was totaled (other driver at fault). Insurance company made offer including sale tax. I know that for a business if you collect sales due you have to pay it pay for to the state. Do I need to send this to the state or is it rewarded when I pay sales excise on the new vehicle? Is it paid to DMV?
The State has already be paid (by you) and this is just a pro-rata portion that you "over remunerated." And you can use it to pay on your REPLACEMENT auto.
Answers: The at breakdown driver, (in this case the other guy or his insurance company) has to settle up you all of your losses. When you buy a replacement vehicle, you have to settle up tax on it. They are paying you (at least within theory) the entire value replacing your car including the levy you will have to pay.
If you did not enjoy your car damaged, you would not hold to buy another car and therefore you would not own to pay the tax. Seeing as you presently have to pay the charge, the settlement includes that figure.
Any tax is due to the state when and if you buy a unknown car!
