2004 HD Sportster stalling at vacant?

My '04 carb'd sporty just started stalling at decline (the bike was already warm), presently I'm having trouble even starting it up. It tries to turn over, but can't block. When I give it gas, sometimes it starts, but as soon as I tolerate go it dies. I also tried using the choke, which isn't working especially well, plus I don't want to foul my plugs. Please backing!

Answers:    Try checking the idle set screw. If it have backed sour, the motor may not be getting enough fuel to save running. I doubt this is the problem unless someone has messed next to it, but start simple.
My best guess is you have a stopped up low speed squirt in the carb. the low speed, or be idle jet supplies fuel for fallow setting as well as low speed riding ( up to 1/3 throttle position). If you want to check this for yourself, check out sportster.org. for rejetting instructions for the factory cv carb. its in principle simple to remove the low speed jet. If you're not routinely inclined, take it to the trader. they can sort it out without much problem.

What can i expect to foot for...

Sounds approaching it is time for a tune up, really it sounds like you might enjoy a cloged fuel filter or water within the carb.
