i was thinking about getting a honda 250r but everyone say all u get done is fixing them
a 2 stroke should in adjectives means be more reliable. less moving parts. and if 2 stfokes suck why contained by motocross do they race 250 4 strokes against 125 2 strokes?
a 2 stroke will need a top closing rebuild more often. but it is approaching $100 for piston, rings, circlips, gaskets etc. where as when a 4 stroke needs it, it runs within to hundreds of dollars. maybe as much as $1500. a 250r 2 stroke will make much more power than even a up to date 450 4-poke. just require a little (and not by much) more keep. i know several people that still run there 250r's and lt250r's near out any problems. and still piss of guys that spend $7000 on a new 4-choke any to get in attendance fenders blew off by the "old" faster and lighter 2 strokes.

Now alot changed to four strokes, outboard engine, snowmobiles, dirt bikes, ATV, chainsaws, I don't see much two strokes on flea market now than past.

Not true! 2-strokes are completely reliable machines, in fact adjectives the 2-strokes I've owned are less hassle then adjectives the 4-strokes I've owned. Sure you need to change a spark plug every couple rides, so what! Also, as others mentioned, a top close rebuild once a season, another so what! Both of these things can be done very cheaply. I be able to do a top end surrounded by my RM80 in an hour and a half...when I be 13!They are virtually maintence free. Keep 'em clean, make sure the oil/fuel mixture is right (most adjectives 2-stroke quads have oil injection, so this is irrelavent, purely keep your reservoir topped off). Another thing to mention (in my experience) is they start easier than a four-stroke, hot, cold or what enjoy ya. Over time, I think a 2-stroke is easier and cheaper to maintain later a 4-stroke. Considering you are looking at a projected engine maintence of 200-300 a year, where as a 4-stroke could pop ya for 1000 bucks the first time you open the motor. Not to mention, I've be working on bikes/quads my whole life and I still return with the jitters when I'm looking at a 4-stroke valve train. With this in mind, plan on bringing your domestic device to a mechanic when its time for motor work, another 50-75 bucks an hour. The modern fourstrokes are great motors, but not for the beginner.
